I adore the smell of limes and lemons and couldn’t stop myself from picking up this beautiful fruit and sniffing it, somewhat dementedly, throughout the evening. I wanted one. I needed one. I had to have one! So a couple of days later, armed with MiMi’s instructions on where to find the shop, I went back and bought not one but three of large fruits for the princely sum of £4.”

“The news story is based on a dietary study that following over 7,000 children. The study compiled information on how often the children ate different food groups at the ages of three, four, seven and eight-and-a-half years old. The researchers also assessed the children?s IQ at the final assessment, when they were eight-and-a-half, to see whether there was any association between diet and intelligence.”

“A Hong Kong adult channel is set to debut a cooking show headlined by a nude host who will prepare Cantonese dishes wearing a transparent apron – an apparent bid to encourage more men to cook. Host Flora Cheung will start each 30-minute show shopping for fresh ingredients in the city’s famous wet markets, undressing once she is back in the privacy of her studio kitchen, the South China Morning Post reported. Cheung, who admits she has never worked in a restaurant kitchen, said she hopes the risque show will draw more men into the kitchen. The first episode is set to air later this month.”

Their failures have left the UK an isolated “lazy man of Europe”. Research from the UK’s biggest organic body highlights the low priority given to the sector by “diffident” policy-makers, which it claims led to sales of organic food and drink slumping in the recession while other major European organic markets successfully weathered the storm.”

Hands up, on closer reading this turned out to be a piece about US security – but it’s still a great piece of writing with a charming headline
“Food stamp usage in the United States has increased 14 percent from the last fiscal year, leaving 43 million individuals, one in seven
Americans, largely reliant on the underfunded government program,
according to the Department of Agriculture. No doubt the recent spike in food stamp recipients, a large portion of whom are single parents trying to raise their children, will most likely cause right-wing politicians and television hosts to scrutinize the American welfare program with party lines, such as ?creating a culture of dependence? and ?welfare queens driving around in Cadillacs.?”
